Vintage 1969 GMC Bus Conversion | Custom Midpoint Entry Door | EP. 3

When we got this vintage ’69 GMC bus up on blocks we were able to see some RV repairs that needed to be completed. With vintage buses and RVs, there are almost always some structural issues to contend with and this build was no different.

After replacing the rear axle air bags we realized that the support brace for the axle was missing bolts. We got those installed and then needed to reconfigure the copper lines around the large heater we removed.

The copper lines are now a continuous loop that won’t leak. The air tanks were moved to the center to allow for storage on each side. Still to come underneath are a propane tank and a generator. We will fit those in without losing all of the storage areas.

The front passenger door was removed so we can frame out a new, custom door. The air bags on the front axle were also replaced.

One key to this bus conversion is maintaining the two doors of the vintage style. We’ve removed the door for custom framing and made use of the space behind the rear stairs for the inverter.

Stay tuned for the next update on this vintage ’69 GMC inner-city bus conversion!
