RV to Mobile Classroom Conversion | Ep 2

How Well Is A Winnebago Really Built?

In the first episode of this RV conversion series, the Leisure Coachworks professionals began the process of converting a Winnebago RV to a mobile classroom. Unneeded components were carefully removed, including the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.

In this episode, the pros are back at it. With the RV demo complete, the removed components show the complexities of RV construction. The team will use as many of the panels and other fixtures as possible as they rebuild the interior.

The removal of the kitchen and bathroom plumbing left a large empty lower space. Accessible from both sides of the exterior, every inch of this space will be used for storage.

Moving inside, the team finished removing everything from the bathroom walls to the bed and shower. This Winnebago was chosen specifically because it came equipped with a wheelchair lift. The lift was temporarily removed.

Also removed were the front chairs and anything that needs to be fit into the new flooring.

The LCW team wants this mobile classroom to look like every component was part of the original design.

One of the major challenges of this type of RV conversion is the wiring. Removing most of the interior components leaves the wiring exposed and it needs to be rerouted and hidden. The team made sure the wiring is in good shape and is ready to be relocated when the design of the Winnebago interior is finalized.

Now that they can see exactly how much space there is, the LCW pros will get started designing booths and storage for this accessible mobile classroom. The solid, well-built Winnebago provides an excellent framework for this project.
