Most of our renovation videos start with an RV that needs a lot of work. Either an older model that needs an update or a bus set for a complete overhaul.
But today we’re transforming a brand-new RV into something new. This customer is looking for a mobile office. Staying true to the Leisure Coachworks mission, we’re going to make this motorhome look like it was always designed to be a mobile office.
Unlike an RV repair, we’re starting with no damage. This is a pristine, Class A 2022 motorhome that needs a new floor plan.
Before we take it apart, let’s look inside. This motorhome was designed for traditional RV life. It has a small slide out with theater seating and a booth that folds out into a bed. In the back, it has a nice big bedroom with a pocket door for privacy.
All of those components need to be removed and the space repurposed for the new mobile office.
We’ll start with a look at how the Leisure Coachworks team takes out the recliners, the booth, and the bed. The bed is hiding the biggest challenge of this renovation: miles and miles of wires.
Notice how carefully the team removes these brand-new components. Great craftsmanship begins with skillfully eliminating what’s no longer needed. Taking everything apart and getting it out of the vehicle safely and without damaging anything takes patience and training.
As you know, no space is wasted in an RV. When we do an RV repair we make sure to make the best use of every available inch. In this motorhome, the space under the bed held a lot of wires. The load center, the inverter load center, a small inverter, a transfer switch, controls for everything, junction boxes, and the main power plug were all there. There was even some plumbing.
Because we’re making room for a desk, this mass of wires will be relocated near the wall. It’s hard to imagine how that will look, so let’s find out!
The best part of any remodel video is seeing the new space created by the team. Take a look at this motorhome now that it’s a mobile office.
The slide-out that used to hold recliners and a dining area is now home to two functional desks separated by a partition for some privacy. Each was built to match the original upholstery and surfaces to keep the design cohesive.
In place of the theater seating is the first booth. This wall had to be reinforced to handle the weight of the new table. The second booth is a little larger and is equipped with a 110V plug and a 12V USB outlet for laptops and phone charging. Both booths have storage beneath the seats.
The main attraction in this remodel is the bedroom that the team turned into a private office. Leaving the pocket door in place gives this space privacy. In place of the bed, we now have a large, L-shaped desk and a booth seat.
The surface of the desk matches those in the other office spaces and is accented with black. All of those wires have been relocated into a compact space along the far wall. The load centers sit beneath the booth seat. That seat, of course, matches those in the other office spaces.
This executive suite has plenty of room for a rolling desk chair and tons of storage for office supplies and equipment. The desk has drawers and cabinets for storage and hardware that matches the original coach design. There are two sets of outlets and USB ports.
Many of the original elements of this room remain. The closets and cabinets did not need to be altered to make this a functional office. The team replaced only what was necessary to make this an attractive, operational office.
Are you wondering about all those wires? They’re tucked securely inside a cabinet along the wall that’s topped by a counter. Before, they were easily accessed by a panel beneath the mattress.
We know how important it is to be able to get at this wiring for RV repair and maintenance. Removable access panels run along the front of this cabinet to make service as easy as possible.
This standard Class A RV is now a fully appointed mobile office. With space to work with clients, use computers, and have private meetings, this office has it all.
