The Benefits of RV Repair with a Warranty

Having an RV is great, isn’t it? You own the open road! Whenever you want to go anywhere, or see anything, you can gas up, hit the road, and live the adventure.

However, as wonderful as it is to own an RV, and no matter how much freedom it will give you, there is a downside. RV repairs aren’t cheap, and when things go wrong, the results can be costly. The good news is you do have the option of an RV repair warranty. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is an RV Repair Warranty?

An RV repair warranty is just like the warranty you get on a new car when you buy it. While it won’t cover repairs due to accidents (which are up to your insurance company), if there are other problems during the warranty period, you can get repairs done without any additional cost.

What Do RV Repair Warranties Cover?

RV repair warranties may differ, but generally, they will cover mechanical and other failures that are not due to accident or malicious damage, which occur during the warranty period.

Which means if something like your engine, drive train or even pop outs or doors fail, and it was not because of an accident or deliberate damage, you can take your RV back to the manufacturer or company you bought the warranty from, and they will repair it for you.

How Long Does an RV Warranty Last?

Most RV warranties are for a specific time frame or mileage, whichever comes first.

So, for instance, your warranty might cover you for five years or 50,000 miles – whichever comes first. Which means that as long as you don’t travel 50,000 miles in five years, you will be covered until the end of the five year period. If you did drive more than 50,000 miles within that time, your RV repair warranty would expire when you reached that mileage.

Be sure to discuss this with the company you’re getting the RV repair warranty from – you might need to extend the time or mileage if you plan to do a lot of travelling!

Does an RV Repair Warranty Cost Money?

Yes. If you choose to have an extended RV repair warranty, over and above what any manufacturer would offer you, or on a secondhand RV purchase, you will pay an additional fee to get the coverage. This can usually be factored into your payment plan or financing, so that you only pay a small additional fee every time you make a payment for the RV.

Why Are RV Repair Warranties a Good Idea?

RVs are a great thing to own. They are fantastic for family vacations, great for road trips, and give you the freedom to see all the places you always wanted to visit. But they’re not cheap to repair.

An RV repair can quickly add up to several thousand dollars or more, and if you’re not prepared for that extra cost, which could be a big financial burden. If you can’t access the funds right away, you might have to save up to cover the cost. That means, in the interim, that you might not be able to use your RV, if the problem is something that makes it unable or unsafe to drive.

An RV repair warranty means that you don’t have to worry about things like that when something goes wrong. As long as it’s covered by the warranty, and you’re within the warranty period, you can get the repair done without the financial burden. Think of it as an extra insurance policy, so you can always keep your rig on the road!
