We see all sorts of RV remodel and renovation jobs here at Leisure Coachworks. Today we’re introducing you to something a little different: a tour bus! This Super C motorhome is going to become a band’s home away from home.
This remodel is all about high-quality practical functionality on a budget.
Many of our jobs require skill and ingenuity to get the best result for every dollar spent.
Let’s take a look inside this RV to see what sort of work needs to be done. The vehicle is in great shape, inside and out. The interior furniture looks almost unused. The mileage is low and most of the components are in great condition. In fact, the living area will likely remain as it is.
There is one big exception, and it explains why this motorhome was a bargain. Significant water damage made a mess of the ceiling and sink. The Super C motorhome has a fiberglass roof that probably didn’t get regular maintenance. The result was a leaking skylight that left the ceiling stained and the wood and floor around the sink badly damaged.
In a budget-friendly coincidence, this band doesn’t want a sink. Instead of spending money replacing all of those water-damaged fixtures, the Leisure Coachworks team is going to take them out of the design entirely. The plan is to get rid of both the shower and the sink to make room for the most important part of a tour bus: sleeping space.
The entire bedroom is also going to be transformed. The big bed (that also looks like new) and built-in cabinetry are coming out of the slide-out on one side. The closet and drawers are coming out on the other side and the whole space, including where the shower and sink are now, is going to be filled with bunks.
The team can’t simply build bunks from floor to ceiling. They have to work around components like the load center and water heater. Like every RV remodel, this tour bus needs experienced designers and meticulous craftsmanship to make the best use of every square inch of available space.
Removing so many of the amenities that came with this Super C motorhome will leave a lot of space. The team will create as many sleeping areas as possible, with the ultimate goal of nine bunks on board.
Before that happens, they need to get under that roof. They’ll peel off the fiberglass, find and fix any damaged spots, and get rid of that leaky skylight. That leaves one less place for water to sneak into the cabin. The team has extensive experience with RV roof repair and uses high-quality sealants to keep the water outside, where it belongs.
The current flooring is coming out, to be replaced with new laminate that is durable, easy to care for, and looks great. Finally, there is the space above the cab. This Super C motorhome has a lot of space up there. It’s currently housing some entertainment equipment but might turn into another bunk or more storage.
